Georgia Tax Breaks Offered to Game Developers

According to an article on theweekly.com Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue has signed into law the "2008 Entertainment Industry Investment Act" which is designed to encourage entertainment productions in GA.

The 20% tax credit for qualified productions are also eligible for an additional 10% credit if they include and animated Georgia promotional logo in the finished projects.

AND this also applies to video game productions.
(not just movies, etc produced in GA)

Google's "Friend Connect" - Making Any Site Social

Today Google announced it is releasing a preview version of it's new "Google Friend Connect". This service is geared towards helping website owners grow traffic by any site on the web to easily provide social features for its visitors.

Their press releases says "any website owner can add a snippet of code to his or her site and get social features up and running immediately without programming -- picking and choosing from built-in functionality like user registration, invitations, members gallery, message posting, and reviews, as well as third-party applications built by the OpenSocial developer community."

Going Interactive recently produced an interactive and entertaining Flash based game for the Apartment Guide called "The Power of 2".

The game is part of an overall trade show marketing campaign used by PRIMEDIA and Apartment Guide in their booths this year.

Users play at kisok stands and have 2 minutes to match a series of pop icon pairs to win a prize.

Scenes From a Microwave Shoot
